For Team Singapore bowler Cherie Tan 🎳 her 2019 Masters win at the World Bowling Women’s Championship has been a decade in the making! After coming in third in the team event at the same tournament in 2009, Cherie set her sights on stepping up her game. It took a fair share of setbacks, sweat and tears before her hard work finally paid off in a gold medal finish 🥇, ten years later!
Not only is Cherie the first Singaporean 🇸🇬 to win the prestigious title, she’s also the first Asian to have been voted the World Bowling Athlete of the Year by the international bowling community in January 2020. Last October, Cherie was crowned Singapore’s Sportswoman of the Year!
In this episode of Rewind, Cherie relives that breathtakingly close final match and shares with us why this victory means so much to her.
