United Overseas Bank triumphs

26th October, Singapore: United Overseas Bank’s Carol Tan, Katherine Ong, Johnny Lee and Francis Teo triumphed in the first round of the inaugural Canon SuperSeries which kicked off at Kallang Bowl on Sunday.

The quartet amassed a three-game team total of 2209 after three consistent games of 705, 704 and 710 to finish ahead of Singtel Team 1 and The Jackson in second and third respectively.

With two females in the team and competing with a 15-pin handicap each, Carol Tan shot 190, 173 and 166 for a 574 scoreline with hnadicap added. Katherine Ong contributed the highest three-game score of 606 with handicap after a superb 203 in her final game.   Their male counterpart of Johnny Lee and Francis Teo knocked down 460 and 569 to give United Overseas Bank a team total of 2209 to captured the first round title. Singtel Team 1’s Ang Lian Hock, Lee Whee Keong, Zaiton Ismail and Victor Lim settled for second with 2132 total.

Jackson Chee, who shot the highest game of 224 and walking away with the high game award, helped his teammates, Alex Tan, Aisu Hassah and Thomas Wong of The Jackson to a third place finish on a total 2110.

The first round of the inaugural Canon SuperSeries comprised of two squads played in the morning and afternoon. Champion, United Overseas Bank led in the first squad to set the benchmark to lead The Jackson and ST Aerospace Ltd in third.   Singtel Team 1 topped the second squad with Singtel Team 2 in second but failed to topple squad 1 leader UOB. Singtel Team 2 finished fourth overall with 2105. Lim Kok Hin, Senior Director and General Manager of the Business Imaging Solutions Division at Canon Singapore was on hand to present the prizes to the winners.

The teams also dressed up “Halloween Style” and painted oranges to in place of the the traditional pumpkins used for such ocassion. Donuts were also given away to the participants kindly sponsored by Donut Empire.
