Splendid silver for Singaporean

7th July, K.Lumpur: Muhammad Jaris Goh of Singapore got off to a splendid start by capturing the Boy's Singles silver medal on the opening day of the 12th Asian Schools Tenpin Bowling Championship.  Muhammad Jaris Goh got off to a great start with a 237 opneing game to trail Braedyn Gavin of Australia in second. Enrico Hernandez of the Philippine got off to an even better start rolling 236 and 244 to take over the running.

Hernandez continued to lead the field to end the 6-game event to top Squad A with 1367 as Jaris stormed home with a superb 259 but fell short by 2 pins to topple the leader and settled for second.

Anothoer Filipino, Ederick Florencio took third spot with 1353, a further 11 pins adrift followed by Tang Lai Wo of Hong Kong and Muhammad Syahmie Rizuan rounding up the top 5.

Japan's Hiroki Takada and Yusuke Yamamoto finished one-two in the second squad by failed to overtake the top 3 finishers in the first squad.

In the girl's division, Malaysia got off to a good start with Faten Najihah winning the gold medal with 1352. Faten had topped Squad A ahead of Kim Ji Yeon of Korea and Yuka Ohshima of Japan.

Last year's Singles and Masters gold medalist, Misaki Mukotani finished second to settle for the silver medal after the 17-year-old topped Squad B with 1330. Another Korean, Han Byul took home the bronze with 1302.

Singapore's Calista Tan Li Xuan was unlucky to miss the podium by just 1 pin after finishing fourth with 1301.

The bowlers will resume competition with the Doubles event tomorrow. The Team of Four will be contested on Friday, July 9 with the Masters Finals over two days on July 10 and 11.
