SingaporeBowling picks up two Sports Awards

6th May, Singapore: SingaporeBowling picked up two awards today when AMF World Cup Champion, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan was awarded the Sportswomen of the Year and Malaysian Open Champion, Jazreel Tan was awarded the Sportsgirl of the Year.

The Singapore Sports Award is organized by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) to recognize the outstanind achievements of athletes across various sports at both the national and international arena.

Jasmine, who upstaged a field of world-class women bowlers gathered in Mexico last year by winning the coveted 44th QubicaAMF World Cup, picked up the Sportswomen of the Year award. Jasmine joined the national team in 2000 and has participated in numerous competitions worldwide representing Singapore.

The 19-year-old created Jasmine created history when she and her older brother, Jason were crowned the 2005 National Champions. The Jasmine and Jason became the first-ever siblings to win the national titles.

Meanwhile, two-time national champion, Jazreel Tan picked up the Sportsgirl of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Jazreel won the 2008 Malaysian Open Women’s Masters title and she also qualified for the 2008 World Ranking Masters finals.

This year’s SNOC Sports Award will certainly give other members of the national team to strive for more successes in its quest for glory for the coming year. Our heartiest congratulations to Jasmine and Jazreel.
