Four makes cut for next round

14th March, Kuwait: Jazreel Tan and Shayna Ng registered the highest and second highest block series during the second block qualifying round of the PBA-WBT #6 10th Kuwait International Open to secure their places in the finals.

Jazreel, who was 14th in the first block, reeled in 204, 256, 222, 241 and 243 for a 5-game series of 1191 and a 10-game total of 2162 which move her up to eighth position in Squad C.

Shayna registered 242, 222, 216, 259 and 224 for the second highest block series of 1188 for a total of 2252 up from ninth in the first block to third.

Overnight squad leader, Tannya Roumimper retained her lead after posting 1132 in her second block for a total of 2354 and stretching her margin over her nearest opponent.

Sweden’s Joline Plainfors jumped four spots from eighth to second with 2258 while her compatriot, Sandra Andersson, who was second in the first block, slipped down to sixth.

PBA pro, Parker Bohn III of USA dropped one spot from third to fourth with 2218 while Daphne Tan of Singapore rounded out the top 5 with 2197. Cherie Tan, who was eighth overnight, dropped to 12th position with 2105.

After three squads have completed their second block, overall leader, Yousif Falah of Bahrain remained in pole position with 2585 followed by Squad B leader, Sean Rash of USA in second with 2480.

Colombia’s Manuel Otalora took oer third position with 2384 followed by American debutant, Toby Sambueno of USA fourth with 2376. Squad C leader, Tannya took fifth spot with 2354.

Her compatriot, Ryan alisang clinched sixth position with 2341 while the seventh position is reserved for the highest Kuwaiti qualifier outside the top 6.

Tim Mack headed the second bracket (positions 8 to 14) with 2340 as Shayna headed the third bracket (positions 15 to 22) and Daphne Tan hold 22nd position.

 

Sandra Andersson headed the third bracket (positions 23 to 34) with 2175 with Jazreel placed 25th position and Cherie 32nd position.

Players will return to the lanes tomorrow for their third and final block of 5 games to complete the qualifying rounds over three days. Round 2 to 4 finals will be stage on March 16 and Round 5 and the Modified Matchplay finals on March 17.

The top 5 men will advance to the Men’s stepladder finals while the top 3 women will take their place in the Women’s stepladder finals.
