Singaporean takes over lead
20th December, K.Lumpur: Geraldine Ng of Singapore took over the lead of the Girl's Open division of the 8th Milo International Junior All Stars Bowling Championship as Gregory Gan of Singapore maintained top spot in the Boy's division. Asian Intercity Doubles bronze medalist, Geraldine Ng improved from her previous eighth position of 631 to storm into the overall lead of the Girl's Open Masters qualifying table with a scintilatting 732. Her effort has pushed teammate, Cherie Tan into second spot.
Cherie amassed 717 to give Singapore a 1-2 finish. World Championship silver medalist, Jazreel Tan booked herself a place in the finals when she shot 699 to take up fourth in the overseas pool and sixth overall.
Other Singaporean girls in the finals were Fok Ka Wai (672), Steffi Tham (626), Bernice Lim (620) and Amanda Ng (617). There were no changes in the local pool with Zandra Aziela remaining in pole position.
Meanwhile, in the boy's division, Gregory Gan of Singapore continued to top the overseas pool with 764 but second to Malaysia's Jonathan Lim, who shot 771. PBAP Bevida-Storm International Classic champion, Syafiq Ridhwan stormed into second spot with 762.
Korean youths were making waves as Na Seong Won, Park Jong Woo grabbed second and third spots in the overseas pool. Hong Hae Sol, SEA Games Doubles gold medalist, Annop Aramsaranon of Thailand and Hong Kong's Mak Cheuk Yin all shared fourth spots with 714.
The Boy's and Girl's Under-15 Masters finals will be contested tomorrow morning as qualifying for the Open and Graded division will end on Friday, December 21. Their Masters finals will be held on Saturday, December 22.
