Singapore trio advances

6th October, Jakarta: 2005 Indonesia Open champion, Bernice Lim led her team-mates, Ilma Nur Jannah and Geraldine Ng into the next round of the Women’s Open Masters of the 10th Indonesia International Open.  Lim set a blistering pace by rolling 224, 257, 194, 175, 212, 211, 224 and 209 before Shalin grabbed the lead two games before the round. Despite ending her last two games with 204 and 236, the Singaporean was content to finish second to Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia.

Shalin, who trailed Lim by 6 pins before the ninth and tenth games, fired 212 and 257 to snatch the lead with 2169 while Lim posted 2146.

Ilma Nur Jannah, who was in the top 10 most of the way, settled for seventh position with 1959. SIngapore’s third finalist, Geraldine Ng survived the cut by taking up 13th position with 1879.

Malaysia’s Syaidatu Affifah finished third with 2055 while a third Malaysian, Hee Kar Yen and Indonesia’s best finisher, Ivana Hie rounded out the top 5 with 2027 and 2023 respectively.

Defending champion and top overseas seeded qualifier, New Hui Fen will join the trio for tomorrow’s Round 2 Masters finals over 10 games.Singapore’s Remy Ong, who was in the bottom half of the 30 finalists, stormed home with 242, 183 and 255 to clinch his spot in the next round with 1981 in 17th position. Eugene Low was less fortunate, missing the cut by just 6 pins in 19th with 1971.

2012 Thailand Open champion, Surasak Manuwong of Thailand topped the Men’s Open Round 1 finals with 2173 followed by Asian Championships Masters bronze medalist, Hardy Rachmadian of Indonesia in second with 2130.

2012 ABF Tour Hong Kong leg champion, Kang Bo Long of Malaysia finished third with 2116 ahead of a second Indonesian, Oscar and defending champion, Yannaphon Larpapharat of Thailand competing the top 5 with 2115 and 2104 respectively.

A third Thai and 2011 ABF Tour Hong Kong leg champion, Annop Arromsaranon survived the cut in 18th position with 1977.

 

The top 18 men will be joined by the top 3 local and top 3 overseas seeded qualifiers and the top 15 women will be joined by the top 3 local and top 3 overseas seeded qualifiers for another 10 games in Round 2 finals tomorrow morning.

The top 6 men and top 6 women will advance into the stepladder shootout finals to determine the champions.
