Singapore girls top Masters table

25th March, K.Lumpur: Singapore national bowlers, Jazreel Tan and Jasmine Yeong-Nathan put in a scintilating performance to take up the top 2 positions of the Ladies' Open Masters qualifying table of the on-going Canon 31st Malaysian International Open on Tuesday.  Jazreel Tan, who won the silver medal in the 2007 Women's World Championship, chalked up a scintilating 934 to emerge the overall leader in the Ladies' Open Masters qualifying table on her Tuesday attempt. 2005 National champion, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan also impressed with 911 to take up second in the overseas pool and fourth overall.

Other Singaporean women, who have booked their spots in the finals were Geraldine Ng and Bernice Lim taking up fifth and eighth positions in the mixed pool with 873 and 825 respectively. However, Jennifer Tan and Daphne Tan could only manage 808 and 780 to finish 26th and 31st overall.

Leading the local table was 2005 champion, Siti Safiyah Amirah with 922 followed by Syakirah Yeoh in second with 917 while defending champion, Zandra Aziela, who is hoping to make the cut straight into Round 3 by being the top 3 qualifiers, finished third with 905.

Singapore's best male performer was Benjamin Lim Jia Jun, who downed 955 to occupy ninth in the overseas pool and 21st overall followed by Shaun Ng Qenn in 23rd position on a 4-game total of 937.

Other Singapore men who have secured finals spots were Lee Yu-Wen in 26th with 933 and Remy Ong in 30th with 914. Leading the men's division was Malaysia's Adrian Ang with 1058 followed by Muhd Syafiq Ridhwan and Alex Liew second and third on 1054 and 1021 respectively.

Qualifying will end Thursday (March 27) and the Masters finals will be held on March 28 and 29. The top 5 local (3 men and 2 women) will make up the Team Malaysia to challenge Team Rest of the World from the top 5 overseas (3 men and 2 women) in the Canon Cup 2008 on Saturday, March 30.
