Shockers Succeed in the Classroom

Wichita, Kansas: The National College Bowling Coaches Association has named the Academic All-American student-athletes for the season and Wichita State University has claimed 14 of them.

The honour is awarded to student-athletes who attain a GPA of 3.5 or higher on all course work and have excelled in their ability to manage time in the classroom and on the lanes. This season seven men and seven women earned the respectable title.

“These student-athletes have individually reached the highest honour any college athlete can attain,” Head Coach Gordon Vadakin said. “For our program, with what we ask of our people, we could not be more proud of what they have accomplished.”

Jazreel Tan continues a collegiate career that has been full of post-season honours. She was named the Rookie of the Year as a freshman and earned the MVP (Most Valuable Player) honours for 2011. Tan now earns this title, for the fourth consecutive year.

Shocker student-athletes are encouraged to do their best both in the classroom and on the lanes, as both are fundamental aspects of the Shocker Bowling Program.
