On course for Singaporean

21st October, Toulon: Singapore's Daphne Tan stayed on course for the 46th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup title after finishing sixth overall at the end of the three blocks of 16-games qualifying round to advance into the Top 24 round. Daphne Tan continued where she left off after yesterday's second block by leading the squad at the start of the third block with a 230 opening game 20 pins ahead Dominican Republic's Aumi Guerra in second.

Tan kept a strong pace with 216, 197 and 208 until a lowly final game of 162, which made her slip down to fourth with 3360. Guerra ended with a strong 256 to snatch pole with 3442 while England's Fiona Banks took second spot with 3409. Filipina, Apple Posadas finished third with 3400, 40 pins ahead of Daphne.

Despite the glitch, the Singapore stayed on course to challenge for the title by making the Top 24 cut.   Meanwhile, Korea's Gye Min-Young turned on her magical wand to cruise to a comfortable pole position with a total of 3556 averaging an impressive 225.25. Malaysia's Wendy Chai settled for second in the squad with 3415.

With the two squads completed, Gye will lead 23 other women into the Top 24 round followed by Guerra in second and Wendy in third. The final 24th spot surpringly went to India's Prathima Hedge with an average of 193.19.

Two men squads will be contested later today in which Singapore's Jonathan Ang will take part. Ang was 58th position overall after two blocks and 158 pins off the 24th placed finisher. It will be a tall order for him to make the Top 24 cut.
