HDB Team 1 takes maiden victory
22nd February, Singapore: HDB Team 1’s Edmund Yue, Zainal Aba, Yazid Amir and Loo Peng Kuan took their maiden victory when they triumphed in the third round of the Canon SuperSeries which resumed at Westwood Bowl on Sunday.
Teams from twenty-three major corporations and government agencies competed in the team event comprising of four players each over three games to deny favourites and Round 2 winner, CDLBC another victory.
HDB Team 1 knocked down a team total of 2344 with games of 811, 760 and 773 for a well-deserved win. Anchorman, Loo Peng Kuan posted the highest three-game series of 617 followed by Edmund Yu on 595, Zainal 574 and Yazid 558.
Team Syntech comprising of Teo Choon Hua, Steven Ang, Chew Ruxun and Benjamin Hong Junliang, amassed 2310, just 34 pins adrift the champions to finish as runnersup. Round 2 second runnerup, TNT Express was again unlucky finishing third with 2280.
Gwen Wong, Lawrence Tan, Norshah and Steven Tay posted series of 721, 767 and 747. Second round winner, CDLBC missed the podium to end up in fourth with a total of 2271 ahead of United Overseas Bank, who earned the crucial automatic qualification into the Grand Finals in fifth place with 2240.
Syntech’s Benjamin Hong shot the Men’s high game of 256 in his second game while Violet Leong of CDLBC Team 2 downed the Women’s high game of 231 in her second game as well. Syntech shot the team high game with 889.
