Final spot confirmed for Singaporean

18th January, Doha: Singapore national kegler, Shaun Ng Qenn confirmed his spot in the Top 36 Finals as he topped Squad 21 of the 7th Qatar International Open qualifying round to take up eighth overall in the qualifying table on Friday morning.  Shaun Ng Qenn, who only managed to record 1251 in his earlier attempt blazed the lanes at Qatar International Bowling Centre this morning in Squad 21 with lines of 213, 246, 268, 223, 186 and 213 to total 1349. The commendable performance moved Shaun up into eighth spot and assuring himself a spot in the finals.

Teammate, Remy Ong, who was Singapore's best performer since yesterday, knocked down 1313 and initially taking up 14th position but has since been relegated into 23rd position. But the total is good enough for the Top 36 cut off.

Singapore's two other representatives at the championship, Mark Wong could not improve on his earlier 1217 and slid down from 38th to 53rd while Jason Yeong-Nathan, despite improving his score fro 1157 to 1200, has yet to make his mark.

 

Indonesia's Ryan Lalisang took over the overall lead with a superb 1421 pushing down overnight leader, Naif Oqab of UAE into second on 1419 while Malaysia's Adrian Ang finished a close third with 1413. The Top 36 at the end of the qualifying rounds till January 19, will make the cut for the finals scheduled for January 20 and 21.
