Canon SuperSeries goes Platinum

3rd May, Singapore: Canon Singapore and SingaporeBowling jointly announce the launch of the Canon Patinum Series for Senior Management in the fourth season of the Canon SuperSeries 2012 in response to increasing demand and feedback from participating companies.

The series was launched by Guest of Honour, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Mr Chan Chun Sing at the Singapore Island Country Club.

Since its launch in 2008 as the first corporate bowling series in Singapore, the Canon SuperSeries has seen a 20 percent increase in participation with an ever increasing interest in the sport over the years.

To date, more than 500 companies, of which 70 percent are returning participants, have taken part in the annual corporate bowling initiative organized by Canon Singapore and the Singapore Bowling to inculcate teamwork and promote a healthy work-life balance through bowling.

The Platinum Series is a by-invitation-only event specially catered to senior management executives of companies in Singapore. Designed to engage corporations in Singapore, the series is in support of the Vision 2030 project by MCYS and the Singapore Sports Council, which seeks to promote wellness and better living through sports.

Developing Happier Individuals and Stronger Leaders
Reinforcing the recently announced Singapore Sports Vision 2030, the Platinum category extends the outreach to encourage a healthy work-life balance and enable to help promote productivity at work. This follows the introduction of the Leisure category last year, in addition to the Competitive category, in the third season of the Canon SuperSeries.

“We are encouraged by the launch of the Singapore Sports Vision 2030 and its mission to encourage Singaporeans to live better through sports,” said Mr. Von Chan, Director and General Manager, Business Imaging Solutions and Business Solutions Division, Canon Singapore.

“Like the Singapore Sports Vision 2030, we want to provide a platform to encourage people to actively participate in sports, and in the process, transform into happier individuals and stronger leaders.

“We are inspired by the growing interest and participation in the Canon SuperSeries since we embarked on this initiative with Singapore Bowling Federation, and it has been very rewarding to see and experience friendships and rapport develop among colleagues and participating companies as a result.”

Encouraging Corporate Cohesion
The introduction of the Platinum category also aims to bring all levels of the corporate fraternity together in a friendly sporting environment. With the new competition format, the Canon SuperSeries will serve more effectively as an alternative networking platform to bring together employees and businesses, increasing opportunities for inter-company sports activities. Participating companies will not just benefit from the team bonding element and business networking opportunity but also increase their engagement with the sporting community.

“We are pleased that Canon has increased its support with the launch of the Platinum category, building on our progress in establishing links between business executives and promoting bonding among family and friends over the last few years”, said Mr. Robin Yap, Vice-President of the Singapore Bowling Federation.

“With the Leisure Canon SuperSeries ongoing in tandem, we have seen full subscriptions to participate in the first session long before the closing date, further reiterating the interest of companies to embark on this journey with us. This truly resonates with the Vision 2030 to get everyone in Singapore to live better through sports and we look forward to greater corporate participation across all levels with Canon and C-level management supporting the sporting community.”
