Trio advances into next stage

24th September, Manila: Singaporean trio, Jason Yeong-Nathan, Lee Yu Wen and Remy Ong advanced into the second stage of the 7th Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge after finishing in the top 24 of the Stage 1 Finals.Jason Yeong-Nathan had a dream start with a superb 269 opening game to trail two-time Malaysian Open champion, Zulmazran Zulkifli of Malaysia by 9 pins. Newly-crowned Samho Korea Cup champion, Tim Mack shot the tournament's second perfect game to take over the running after the second game.

But the pace was simple too hot for everyone except Zulmazran, who cruised to a comfortable 44 pins margin with an 8-game total of 1957. American pro, Doug Kent held on to second with 1913 as Hong Kong's Eric Tseng stormed home for third with 1892.

Apart from two sub-200 games in the fourth and sixth games, Jason came home a respectable 11th with a total of 1816. Lee Yu Wen made no mistake in his final game to end in 22nd with 1757.

Remy Ong, who was in 31st position before the final game, shot a superb 255 to squuezed in at 23rd position on a total of 1754. Lionel Lim was less fortunate missing the cut in 29th with 1732, just 21 pins from 24th place.

Mark Wong and Basil Low could not secure high games throughout the finals and ended up a disappointing 43rd and 44th positions respectively.

The top 24 advanced into Stage 2 finals for another 8 games from scratch. The top 8 would proceed to the Round-Robin matchplay Stage 3 finals. At the end of the Stage 3, the top 4 would make the cut for the stepladder finals.
