Team Unix wins Round 5

11th June, Singapore: Team Unix from the Ministry of Education, comprising of Zhou Wencong, Melvyn Tan and Andrew Yong took a narrow victory in Round 5 of the immensely popular Canon SuperSeries 2 2010 at Westwood Bowl on Friday.

Team Canon Singapore, comprising of Jackson Chee, Alex Tan and Johnathan Goh, got off to a good start with 589 but was just 1 pin ahead of Team Unix of Zhou Wencong, Melvyn Tan and Andrew Yong.

Despite rolling down another superb 614 in their second game, Team Unix downed a higher 631 to take over the lead, 16 pins ahead as Team Syntech in a close third. The leader went on to end the round with a spirited 585 to take victory with 1804.

Zhou posted the highest 3-games series of 633 for his team with Melvyn scoring 572 and anchorman, Andrew contributing 599. Team BNP Paribas Bank stormed home with 634 to snatch second spot with 1774.

 

Emmanuel Mataya Zoleta, Tham Wei Han and Lee Teck Seng downed 549, 591 and 634 series respectively for taking second position. Pace-setter hang on well to finish third with 1736.

Lee Teck Seng rolled the highest series with 634 and his team also rolled the highest game with an identical 634 pinfalls. Team Syntech missed the podium to finish fourth with 1714 with Team Continental Elite completing the top 5.

A total of 24 teams took part in the fifth round of this year’s Canon SuperSeries 2. Before the roll-off, national bowlers, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, Jazreel Tan and Remy Ong were on hand to sign autogtaphs for their fans.
