Team Syntech crowned champion
4th July, Singapore: Team Syntech comprising of Lim Choon Heng, Steven Ang and Benjamin Hong were crowned the Canon SuperSeries 2 2010 Grand Finals champion at Orchid Bowl @ Orchid Country Club on Sunday.
Round 6 champion, Sea Rider set a cracking pace with 641 in their opening game to lead the field of 30 teams competing in the grand finals ahead of Team Sea Rider 28 pins adrift in second.
Despite posting a respectable 565 in their second game, Sea Rider was unable to hang on to their lead as Team Syntech shot a sizzling 645 game to move into the lead 24 pins ahead XXXcellence Team 1.
Team Syntch ended the finals with another excellent 657 to emerge as champion with a team total of 1894. Lim Choon Heng and Steven Ang downed an identical 603 series while anchorman, Benjamin Hong posted the highest 3-game series of 688 to help the team to victory.
Round 2 champion, XXXcellence Team 1, comprising of Victor Lim, Eridix Ng Soo Cheng and Eric Koh Wee Siang settled for first runner-up with a total of 1808 while ST Aerospace 1 stormed home to take third spot with 1795.Team Syntech, who won the fourth round, were simply no match for their opponents romping home a comfortable 86 pins margin for a well-deserved victory. The champion won the top prize of S$12,000 with S$5,000 and S$2,500 going to the first and second runner-ups.
The immensely popular Canon SuperSeries, in its second year, had six rounds which started this year in February culminating with the Grand Finals today. The top 5 finishers in each round automatically qualified for the Grand Finals.
Each round winners also took home S$2,000 as champion with S$1,000 and S$800 going to the first and second runner-ups. Ms Jessie Phua, president of SBF and FIQ presented a token of appreciation to Mr Lim Kok Hin of main sponsor, Canon Singapore Pte Ltd.
