Superb Win for Singaporean

15th September, Manila: Singapore national bowler, Cherie Tan had to wait ten months before winning the 12th Euro-med Storm International Masters Challenge title with vitory over Filipino, Biboy Rivera, 276-248 in the second deciding match.

Tan, who won the 2104 It’s Daejeon Open back in November, lost to challenger, Rivera 191-229 in the first match. But Tan bounced back in the decider, in a high-scoring finale to pick up her first individual title this year.

The Filipino first defeated third-seed, Esther Cheah of Malaysia, 247-230 in the opening match before narrowly edging second-seed, Son Hye Rin of Korea, 279-276 to earn a crack at the title.

The champion had earlier won six out of the eight matches played in the Stage 3 Finals to advance to the stepladder finals as top-seed with 2091. Son finished second with 1991 with four wins.

Cheah and Rivera made the stapladder finals with 1930 and 1922 pinfalls respectively. 2015 Malaysian Open champion, Park Jong Woo of Korea missed the cut by nine pins in fifth followed by Dominic Barrett of England in sixth position with 1890.

Newly-crowned ABF Tour Hong Kong 2015 champion, Sam Cooley of Australia and Sin Li Jane of Malaysia completed the top eight in the finals with 1886 and 1818.
