Singaporean takes over lead

15th December, K.Lumpur: Two-time National Championship first runner-up, Clara Lau of PBC swapped top spot with overnight leader, Ilma Nur Jannah for the lead in the Girl's Open Masters overseas pool on Thursday.

Clara, who had dropped down to tenth in the overseas pool, rolled 238, 258 and 237 for a 3-game series of 733 to haul herself up to pip compatriot and overnight leader, Ilma Nur Jannah by 5 pins for the lead.

Ilma settled for second with 728 ahead of team-mate, New Hui Fen in fourth with 714. Newly-crowned National champion, Kristel Oh slipped down one spot to sixth on a score of 706 with Jasmine Yeong-Nathan taking up eighth position with 679.

SEA Games gold medalist, Shayna Ng headed the mixed pool with 671 followed by Michaela Oehler seventh with 644. Nur Azri Muhd Azan of Singapore finished ninth with 640.

There were also no changes in the top 3 positions on the local pool. Fourth perfect gamer, Zatil Iman led the table with 753 followed by Syaidatul Affifah and Siti Safiyah in second and third with 727 and 719.

Meanwhile, four perfect games was posted today. Rafif Santoso of JAB, Indonesia roll the seventh perfect game of the tournament during the Boy's Graded Masters finals en-route to finishing second.

Ex-national, Rodson Thong downed the eighth after he shot the 300 in his first game during The Masters qualifying round to take over the lead. Koo Seong Hoi of Ulsan, Korea knocked down the ninth in his Boy;s Open qualifying while the fourth of the day and the tournament's tenth 300 came from Muhd Rafiq during his Singles event at the 5.30pm squad.

Singapore Sports School's Javier Tan remained in the lead despite so many perfect games scored. Fifth perfect gamer, Sam Cooley of Australia is second in the overseas pool with 799 while Qatar's Hazeem Al-Merekhi finished third with 785.

There were no changes in the local pool with Muhd Nur Aiman, Muhd Rafiq B Ismail and Wan Nadzmi Fikri occupying the top 3 positions with 822, 784 and 764 respectively.

 

Qualifying continues for the next two days and the Open Masters finals will be contested on December 17 and The Masters finals on December 18.
