Singapore youths dominate Under-15

12th December, K.Lumpur: Singapore youths dominated the Under-15 qualifying rounds of the 12th MILO International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championship after Alex Chong and Kuek Qi En finished one-two in the Boy's division at Sunway Mega Lanes.  Overnight leader, Kuek totaled 738 to finish 8 pins behind Chong in second. Ng posted 713 while Wong was the fourth youth to surpass the 700-mark with 708 to finish fourth. Singapore youths have taken up 11 of the 18 slots of the boy's under-15 division so far.

Anis Shazlin of Premium Lanes Penang took top spot in the Girl's Under-15 division with a score of 728 ahead of two Singaporean youths, Joey Yeo and Kimberly Ooi of Singapore Sports School with 695 and 670 respectively.

In the Girl's Open division, two-time first runner-up in the Singapore National Championships, Clara Lau finished second in the Girl's Open division overseas qualifying table with 579. New Zealand's Bianca Tofilau topped the table with 589.

Malaysian national youth, Zatil Iman who shot the fourth perfect game of the tournament, head the local pool with 753. National youth, Syaidatul Afifah took second spot with 727. Two-time champion, Siti Safiyah, who rolled the second 300, tfinished third with 719.Javier Tan of Singapore Sports School clinched top spot in the Boy's Open Masters overseas qualifying pool with a splendid 813. Tan rolled 256, 278 and 279 in his first attempt yesterday.

Aussie Sam Cooley slipped down to second with 760 ahead of Singapore's Low Eng Howe third with 697. Jonathan Ang is fifth with 646 followed by Ryan Nicholas Lin Shou sixth with 641 and Jonathan Lim seventh with 625.

Malaysian National elite, Muhd Nur Aiman topped the Boy's Open local pool with 822 after he shared the first daily perfect game award of RM1,000 with Diam Mizra of Selangor on the opening day of qualifying.

The 12th edition of the immensely popular MILO International Junior All-Stars feature four youth catagories - Open, Graded, Under-15 and Under-12 for boys and girls. Qualifying started December 8 and will end December 16.

The first Masters finals will be held tomorrow morning for the Under-12 division and on December 14 for the Under-15. The Masters finals for the Graded division will be contested on December 15 while the Open division on December 16.

At the same time, this year's division for the adults have been integrated into the junior tournament and their Masters finals will be contested on December 18. Sunway Mega Lanes recently converted their wooden lanes to synthetic and installing flat-screen monitors.
