Singapore national bowler makes Round 4

24th February, Dubai: Singapore national bowler, Remy Ong advanced into the Round 4 finals of the 3rd Dubai International Open Bowling Tournament after finishing second in Round 3 finals on Friday evening.  After securing a spot in the Round 2 finals by qualifying in 13th position, Ong contested the Round 2 finals to finish third position with 1783 behind Sweden’s Pter Ljung in the lead with 1964 and Philippines’ Biboy Rivera in second with 1799 to advance into Round 3.

The Singaporean left-hander set a cracking pace with 230, 223, 217, 247, 258 and a big game of 268 in the sixth game to take over the lead from pace-setter, Kim Bolleby of Sweden.

A small setback of 180 in the seventh game saw Bolleby regaining the lead as Ong slipped down to second. The 21-year-old Swede hung on to the lead with a final game of 210 while Ong rolled 216 to finish second.

Jamal Ali Ali of UAE ended strongly with 255 to take third spot with 1821 while Finn Perttu Jussila and Filipino, Biboy Rivera completed the top 5 with 1817 and 1772.

American Patrick Healey Jnr, UAE’s Hussain Al Suwaidi, Finn Joonas Jahi and Round 2 leader, Peter Ljung of Sweden finished sixth to ninth positions.

2004 World Raking Masters champion and a third Emirati, Mohammed Khalifa Al Qubaisi took the final tenth position to join the rest for tomorrow’s Round 4 finals for another 8 games with pins carried forward.

Kuwait’s Basel Al Anzi missed the cut by just 5 pins despite ending strongly with a final game of 234. The top 5 at the end of Round 4 finals will proceed to the stepladder shootout to determine the champion.
