Singapore dominates Classified division

25th September, Manila: Singapore bowlers dominated the second block of the 11th PBAP-Bevida Storm International Classic as Jeremy Fang and Andrew Lee occupied the top two positions in the Classified division. Singapore bowlers continued to make their impact when ex-national, Jeremy Fang shot a superb 1769 to give him a 16-game total of 3532 and the lead in the Classified division after the second block.

Overnight leader and Hong Kong Open Graded Masters champion, Andrew Lee could not repeat his first block form but still managed to finish second to Fang. Lee shot 1566 to amassed 3370 total.

Filipina, Lara Posadas was Philippine's top finisher taking up third spot with 3316 ahead of Korea's Kim Eun Jung and another Filipina, Liza Del Rosario rounding up the top 5 with 3315 and 3296.   Meanwhile, with a different oil pattern put on for the second block, overnight leader, Jason Yeong-Nathan found it difficult to adapt to the conditions. The 2005 national champion started off with five sub-200 games of 180, 196, 182, 190 and 179. Fortunately, Jason got his composure back to reel home 207, 205 and 256 to end the block with 1595 to compliment his first block of 1843 giving him a total of 3438. A poor 1499 by Shaun Ng in this block saw him nose-dive down from fifth to 20th with 3271.

Filipino, Chester King displayed his consistent form that helped him to bag two gold medals in the Asian Championship in Hong Kong two months ago with another superb 8-game series of 1754 to add to his 1786 from the first block for a 3540 total and the overall lead.

14-year-old Machael Mak of Hong Kong impressed with 1766 to give him a total of 3527 to take up second followed by team-mate, Cyrus Cheung in third with 3512. Asian Championship Doubles gold medalist, Eric Tseng shot the tournaent's first perfect game to finish fourth with 3504.   Malaysia's best performer, Christyn Chew and last year's Asian Ranked No. 1, Kim Eun Jung of Korea were the two best female bowler finishing sixth and seventh positions ahead of Jason Yeong-Nathan.

Bowlers will return to the lanes for their third and final qualifying block of 8 games on Friday. The top 24 in all the three divisions will make the cut for the next round on Saturday.
