Singapore bowler shoots first 300

 

24th April, Texas: National bowler, Shayna Ng, 20 shot the tournament’s first perfect game during the Round 1 qualifying stage of the USBC Queens 2010 at the El Paso Convention Center on Saturday.

Shayna Ng got off to a splendid start after she had the entrie bowling centre almost at a standstill when she stepped up for her 12th and final throw in her opening game. She had cheers and congratulatory hi-fives after she acheived the incredible feat of rolling the perfect 300.

From then onwards, Shayna had consistently lines of over 200 pinfalls for each of the remaining four games. Her superb affort put her seventh in the overall standings for a total of 1190.

 

Shayna's last major individual achievement was winning the bronze in the Women’s Singles during the last Asian Indoor Games in 2009 in Ho Chih Minh City, Vietnam and was also part of the women’s team which won the bronze medal at the World Women Championship in Las Vegas, USA last year.

Shayna's team-mate, Geraldine Ng, 24 finished 17th position with a total of 1145 pinfalls while Jasmine Yeong-Nathan, 21 and Bernice Lim, 18 both tied in the 28th position with a total of 1120 pinfalls.

Rookie of the Year, Jazreel Tan, 20 managed only 42nd position with 1092 pinfalls while her peers, Cherie Tan, 21 and New Hui Fen, 17 ended in the 89th and 116th positions with 1023 and 983 pinfalls respectively.

Leading the overall qualifiers was Carolyn Dorin-Ballard of Keller, Texas with 1224 pinfalls. Bowlers will continue with the second round of qualifying on 25 April 2010 (Texas, USA time).
