Semi Final 1 - Kim Yeon-Ju and Moon-Jeong Kim (Korea) vs Daphne Tan and New Hui Fen:

Daphne and Hui Fen continued their excellent form into the semi-finals. They were undaunted by the task of facing the top seed Korea. Daphne and Hui Fen supported each other with scores of 222 and 234 respectively, eventually ousting the Koreans 456-414.

Semi Final 2 - Shayna Ng and Jazreel Tan vs Laura Fonnegra and Maria Jose Rodriguez (Colombia):

This semi-final was a see-saw battle with little between the two pairs right up to the tenth frame when the Colombians eventually snatching it 412-392.

Final - Laura Fonnegra and Maria Jose Rodriguez (Colombia) vs Daphne Tan and New Hui Fen:

Daphne had a sizzling start with four strikes in the beginning of the game. Laura Fonnegra and Maria Jose Rodriquez responded strongly with four bagger of their own. The final was truly spectacular and a dream for the organisers, with both teams matching each other strike for strike.

Hui Fen too had a five bagger of her own from the fourth frame. It was a memorable final which was only decided in the tenth frame. Team Singapore did their part with both bowlers striking home in their tenth frame to put pressure on their opponents.

The Colombians held their nerve and eventually triumphed over Singapore, 481-473. The fact that both pairs made it to the top four of the World Youth Championships was proof that the Youth Development Programme in Singapore is bearing fruit.

Congratulations to Team Singapore and hopefully more medals are in store during the Team event!
