Second Runner-up for Singaporean

6th September, N.Brunswick, NJ: PWBA Lubbock Sports Open, Jazreel Tan was closed to winning her second PWBA title when the Singapore national bowler finished second runner-up in the 2015 US Women’s Open at Brunswick Zone Carolier Lanes.

Tan, who made the TV finals finishing fourth after the Matchplay finals with a total 12,090 pinfalls from a grueilling 56 games playoffs. Shannon O’Keefe of P’Fallan, IL., topped the sheet with 12,604.

Liz Johnson of Cheektowaga, NY was second with 12,554 ahead of Danielle McEwan of Stony Point, NY third with 12,486. Kelly Kulick of Union, NJ clinched the fifth and final spot with 11,886.

Tan edged Kulick, 195-190 in the opening stepladder match to advance and then took out McEwan in a low-scoring second match, 172-165 to progress. But Tan’s fine run came to an end when she lost to Johnson, 177-199.

Johnson went on to clinch the title by a single pin when she narrowly edged top-seed, O’Keefe, 190-189 in the championship match. Johnson picked up the top prize of US$50,000 with O’Keefe settling for US$25,000.

The Singaporean earned US$14,500 for her effort while McEwan and Kulick took home US$7,500 and US$5,500 respectively. Shayna Ng finished 17th (11,610), Daphne Tan 19th (11,452) and New Hui Fen 23rd (11,304).
