Remy Ong makes Stage 3 finals

20th January, Doha: Remy Ong of Singapore made Stage 3 finals of the 7th Qatar Internationl Open Bowling Championship after finshing second to leader, Jason Belmonte of Australia in the Stage 2 finals on Sunday.  Remy Ong, who had dropped to 24th with an earlier attempt of 1313, improved his score in Squad 24 to assured himself an automatic qualificiation into Stage 2 finals with 1346 and in 16th position while Shaun Ng Qenn also made the finals in 14th with 1349.

The SEA Games two gold medalist started off poorly with 165 in the opening game of the Stage 2 finals but fought on galantly with 257, 234 and 211 to end the 4-game finals with a total of 867, just 1 pin behind leader, Jason Belmonte of Australia.

Shanu Ng however could not get into his strides finishing 11th with 771, 35 pins short of the top 8 finisher. Jason Yeong-Nathan and Mark Wong failed to improve on their earlier scores and did not make the Stage 1 cut.

The top 8 in this stage will join the top 8 automatic qualifiers from the qualifying leaderboard in Stage 3 finals scheduled to be played on Monday.
