Easy victory for first timer
7th March, Singapore: First timer, Team XXXcelence took an easy victory in the Canon SuperSeries 2 Round Two ahead of last round runnerup, Team BNP Paribas and Team ST Aerospace 2 at Westwood Bowl on Sunday.
Eridix Ng Soo Cheng, Victor C Lim and Eric Koh Wee Siang started a blistering pace with an opening game of 600, largely assisted by Victor’s 244 opener while Ng and Koh downed 172 and 184 respectively.
The trio continued with another good game of 578 with the two teams of Sembcorp Marine Limited trailing the lead by 18 pins in second and a further 7 pins in third. Ng then shot 204 with Victor 193 as Koh ended with a scintilating 257 for another awesome 654 in the third game.
The superb third game gave Team XXXcelence a total of 1832 and the victory over the strong finishing Team BNP Paribas in second with 1771 while Team ST Aerospace 2 settled for third with 1755.
Both the Sembcorp Marine Limited teams fizzled out and slipped down to fourth and fifth positions with 1715 and 1674. The champion took home a cash prize of $2,000 together with Canon products sponsored by Canon Singapore Pte Ltd.
Before the start of the second round, Remy Ong, who has just returned from Doha after finishing third runnerup in the H.H. Emir Cup 2010 and second runnerup in the 1st Dubai International Open in Dubai and 2008 AMF World Cup champion, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan were on hand to sign autographs.
A wine tasting session was also held in conjunction with the festivities of the Canon SuperSeries which also included Live Food Stations featuring famous mouth-watering dishes from Penang such as Penang Laksa and Penang Rojak.
