CDLBC Team 1 captures Round 2 title

30th November, Singapore: CDLBC Team 1’s Chua Peng Chye, Wee Kiat Fong, Poh Leong Yan and Ng Chin Leong captured the second round of the inaugural Canon SuperSeries which resumed at Orchid Bowl @ SAFRA Yishun on Sunday.

Teams from tewenty-nine major corporations and government agencies competed in the team event comprising of four players each over three games where CDLBC Team 1 took the Round 2 title. TNT Express prevented a 1-2 finish when they pipped CDLBC Team 2 for second.

CDLBC Team 1 knocked down a team total of 2211 with consistent games of 713, 707 and 746 to take the victory of the immensely popular Canon SuperSeries. Wee Kiat Fong, the only female in the team, posted the highest three-games series of 596 with a 15 pin handicap each game.

Chua Peng Chye shot 583 followed by Poh Leong Yan on 533 and Ng Chin Leong 499. CDLBC almost had a 1-2 finish but the second team was pipped by Team TNT Express for second spot.

Muhari, Gwen Wong, Norshah and Steven Tay amassed a team total of 2177, just 31 pins ahead of CDLBC Team 2’s Violet Leong Suyi, Hendie Chan, Kenny Chua and Azmie Baba, who shot 610, 482, 569 and 485 respectively.

Violet Leong Suyi also posted the highest three-game series of 610 by a female competitor, albeit with 15 pins handicap per game. Francis Teo of first round champion, United Overseas Bank, shot the highest series of 609 for the men’s division. TNT Express picked up the team high game of 754.

However, his team failed to win this time round finishing seventh with 2101. The Jackson took fourth spot with 2134 while Singtel Team 1 rounded up the top 5 with a fifth place finish.

The Canon SuperSeries Round 3 will be stage on February 22, 2009 at Westwood Bowl.
