Bringing Bowling to Schools

19th May, Singapore: Students from Griffiths Primary School experienced a unique morning where national bowler Remy Ong graced and officiated their Learning Fiesta on Wednesday morning, an event held in conjunction with the Youth Olympic Games 2010.

About 900 students and teachers congregated in the school hall where Remy shared his life story on how he managed to balance both studies and bowling in his early days and continued to pursue his passion where he is now a World Champion and also a triple Gold Medalist in the in the 2002 Asian games.

Students and teachers gained a personal insight on Remy in action where he kick-start the Learning Fiesta with a one-ball roll-off on the portable bowling lane.

During the event, students and teachers also had the opportunity to learn more about bowling from our development squad bowlers who were there to share with

them tips on how to bowl and also allowed the students to have a hands-on experience feeling the real bowling pins and handling the bowling balls on the mobile lane.Students and teachers also came up to Remy requesting for autographs and photography opportunities when he was touring around the school to meet up with students in their activities.

Although bowling is not a sport featured in the upcoming Youth Olympic Games, SingaporeBowling is happy to have the opportunity to showcase the sport and our bowlers to encourage and promote bowling to schools and students as part of their discovery process on the various sports options.
