A lack luster performance
29th July, Las Vegas: Singapore had a lack luster performance on the second day of the World Women's Championship 2009 which resumed on Wednesday with the Doubles event in which the best pair finished 28th overall. Reigning AMF World Cup champion, Jasmine Yeong-Nathan partnered Bernice Lim in the opening squad of the Doubles event at the Cashman Center to finish 10th in the squad with 2431. jasmine posted 1240 for her six game series while Bernice shot 1191.
Asia powerhouse Korea claimed pole when Asian Championship gold medalist, Hwang Sun-Ok and Gang Hye-Eun claimed pole with 2613 ahead of Anne Gales and Rikkie Rasmussen of Denmark and England's Hayley White and Jo Cundy finished second and third.
Singapore's second pairing of Cherie Tan and Jazreel Tan did not pay dividen either as the duo took 13th spot in the second squad with 2400 behind leader, Philippines, who amassed 2549.
The third pair of Geraldine Ng and Shayna Ng finished strongest of the three in ninth in the third and final squad with 2436 in which the Korean pair of Son Yun-Hee and Hong Su-Yeon overhauled their compatriots to clinch pole with 2616.
Hwang and Gang took second overall with the Danes relegated into third spot. A strong finish by Australia's Carol Gianotti and Ann-Maree Putney saw the pair clinched the fourth spot for Thursday's finals.
Cherie Tan was Singapore's best performer in Tuesday's opening Singles event in which she took 20th overall position out of a total of 228 bowlers.
