Successful conclusion of National Development Selections

28th November, Singapore: The first Annual Skill assessment (ASA) for all 3 levels (Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced) of the Centres of Excellence (COE) has concluded with the National Development Squad (NDS) selections ending on 28th November at Orchid Bowl, Orchid Country Club.

This year was the last open roll-offs for the NDS selections with subsequent selections requiring entrants to be from the National Youth Development Programme’s (NYDP) Centres of Excellence.

A good turnout this year can be attributed to our current endorsed academies, Agape Bowling Academy and Strike Academy with some 200 bowlers participating across both the ASA and NDS Selections.

The bowlers in the advanced level of the ASA were evaluated in the NDS Selections, where they were accessed across the 3 stages of the NDS open roll-off selections.

In Stage 1, the bowlers had to bowl a 18 games series (6 games each on short oil, medium oil and long oil conditions), where the top 20 boys and top 10 girls after the 18 games will qualify for the next stage.

In Stage 2, the coaches had identified 5 additional bowlers with potential to join Stage 2. The panel of coaches will make the hard to shortlist the bowlers to advance to the final stage of this NDS process. The top boy and girl from the 18 games qualifying will advance directly to stage 3 of the roll-offs.

In the final stage of the selections, will be the interview with the National coaches. This is to make known their desire, discipline, determination and understand their commitment levels compiled with the coaches assessment.
