Singaporeans make their mark

13th December, K.Lumpur: Singapore youths competing at the 12th MILO International Junior Bowling Championship made their mark after SEA Games gold medalist, New Hui Fen took over the lead in the Girl's Open Masters overseas qualifying table on Tuesday.

The Singaporean, who won this year's Macau Open, will be hoping to end the year on a high by capturing the Girl's Open title. "If I do well in the Junior All-Stars, I might try my luck also in The Masters for the senior," said the 18-year-old Hui Fen.

SEA Games silver medalist, Tannya Roumimper of Indonesia did well to take up third spot after rolling 676 as two-time Singapore national runner-up, Clara Lau and Shayna Ng completed the top 5 in the overseas pool woth 675 and 671 respectively.

Sitting atop the local pool is perfect gamer and national elite squad member, Zatil Iman with 753. National youth, Syaidatul Afifah and another perfect gamer, Siti Safiyah finished second and third with 727 and 719.

In the Boy's Open division, Singapore Sports School's Javier Tan totaled an impressive 813 to head the overseas pool. Overnight leader, Sam Cooley of Australia slipped down to second with 760.

Debutant, Devin Bidwell of United States occupied third spot with 698 ahead of Singapore's Low Eng Howe and Qatar's Hazeem Al-Merekhi rounding up the top 5 with 697 and 673 respectively.

The top 3 positions in the local pool remained unchanged with first perfect gamer, Muhd Nur Aiman occupying top spot with 822 followed by Muhd Rafiq Ismail in second with 784 and national youth, Johnathan Chan third with 757.

 

Meanwhile, ex-national and reigning national champion, Kang Bo Long of Topgun Bowlzone topped The Masters qualifying leaderboard with 803. Selangor's youngster, Sheena Dina Rizal took second spot wit 783 thanks to a 45 pin handicap.

Qualifying continues through to December 16. The Under-15 Masters finals will be held tomorrow morning while the Graded division Masters finals will be contested on December 15.
