Singaporean youths shine again

15th December, K.Lumpur: Singapore youth shone again as Justin Lim Chun Liang split Australia's domination in the Boy's Open Masters overseas qualifiers' pool of the 11th MILO International Junior All Stars Championship on Wednesday. Justin Lim totaled an impressive 753 to pip Daniel Webb of Western Australia by 13 pins but fell short by just 2 pins from leader, Ashley Warren of Australia in pole position with 755.

Hong Kong Open Youth champion, Cheng Hsing-Yueh improved slightly to take up fourth spot with 726 while second perfect gamer, Sam Cooley of Australia rounded up the top 5 with 718. Gan Ju-Yen, Jonathan Ang, Ng Chiew Pang and Javier Tan were the other Singapore youths in this pool.

Three-time Junior All Stars champion, Adrian Ang reclaimed pole position last night with an improved 767 dislodging compatriot, Syimir Abdul Razak into second spot with 755. Early leader, Johnathan Chan finished third with 745.   Meanwhile, Kwa Ai Teng of NSRCC Singapore surged into second spot with a superb 677 to trail leader, Libby Embury of Western Australia in pole with 686. Newly-crowned Singapore National Women champion, Bernice Lim also notched up 649 to move up to third.

Other Singaporean girls making the cut were Michaela Oehler of Singapore Sports School in fifth, Clara Lau and Ilma Nur Jannah in 10th and 11th. Isanelle Lee of NSRCC, Stacy Lian and Daphne Aw are in the mixed pool.

Singapore Open Women's champion and 2008 Junior All Stars champion, Sin Li Jane shared top spot with National youth Lim Hsu Zen in the local pool. Two-time champion, Siti Safiyah Amirah is third with 695.   Qualifying for the Graded division ended this evening at 7.00pm and their Masters finals will be staged tomorrow, December 16. The Masters finals for the Open division will be held on December 17.
