Singaporean inches toward finals

5th December, Johannesburg: Singapore's representative at the 47th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup, Cherie Tan inched her way closer to the women's title after putting in a splendid effort in the Top 24 Finals.  Cherie Tan, who advanced in third after the qualifying rounds, retained third position after the Singaporean rolled 222, 236, 176, 212, 233, 268, 244 and 196 for an 8-game series of 1787 and a 28-game aggregate of 6242.

The top 3 positions at the overall qualifying rounds in the past four days remained unchanged as reigning champion, Aumi Guerra was again in stunning form knocking down 1885 series for a total of 6748 to remain in the lead.

Diandra Asbaty of United States rolled 1880 series for a total of 6408 to remain in second ahead of Tan.

Sweden's Sandra Andersson, Finland's Krista Pollanen, Filipino Liza Clutario and Netherland's Wendy Kok made the cut from fourth to seventh positions while England's Lisa John, who shot the highest 8-game series of 1901, survived the cut in eighth position.

Russia's Evgeniya Zelenkova missed the cut by 4 pins on 5980 despite a high game of 248 in her final game while World Women Championship Singles gold medalist, Jacqueline Sijore of Malaysia rounded the top 10.

The women top 8 advanced into tomorrow's Quarter-finals for another 8 games and the top 3 would proceed to the stepladder grand finals on Wednesday, December 7.
