SBF veteran wins senior title

19th December, Penang: SBF verteran, Samuel Ho won the 36th Penang Pesta International Open Senior Masters title from seasoned campaigner and ex-international, Jack Wong to give Singapore a one-two finish on Friday morning.  A slow start by most of the veterans in the 10-game Senior Masters finals saw former national champion, Azizan Hanif taking the lead with just 211 opening game. But the pace picked up thereafter and by the fifth game, ex-national Sandra Sageran had taken over the lead with just 11 pins.

With the field closed bunched, a superb 248 by Samuel Ho in the sixth game gave the 58-year-old veteran the lead followed by Jack Wong and Rahim Bin Kassim sharing second. Despite a strong 234 in his next game, Wong was able to narrow the gap and in hot pursuit.

Ho lost the lead briefly to Wong before the final game but it was the SBF honorary secretary wh came out on top with a superb 222 to take the title with 2012 total. WOng's 160 in the final game forced him to settle for second with 1979.

Early pace-setter, Richard Leo stormed home with 247 in his last game to take up third spot with 1956 as Rahim Bin Kassim and Abdul Rahim Salleh of Pahang completed the top 5 with 1935 and 1928 respectively.

Early leader, Sandra Sageran could only finish sixth with 1889. The champion won RM3,000 for his effort while Jack Wong settled for RM1,500 and Richrd Leo took home RM700.
