Agape Bowling youth wins Boy’s U12 title

13th December, K.Lumpur: Soh Yong Ping of Agape Bowling Singapore won the Boy's Under-12 Masters title of the 11th MILO International Junior All Stars Championship by a comfortable margin at Sunway Mega Lanes on Monday morning. Nikhil N Gangaram of Singapore set the opening pace with 210 followed Ryan Wong of PBC SIngapore in second 6 pins away. The lead went to Malaysia's Afiq Irsyaduddin after the second game as top qualifier, Sean Gabriel Wong closed in on the leader in second.

At the halfway mark, it was Soh Yong Ping of Agape Bowling Singapore, who surged into the lead after rolling 182, 203, 180 and 231 and opening up a margin of 37 pins over the recovering Nikhil in second.

Despite managing only 188 and 170 in his next two games, Soh blitzed the lanes with 256 and 208 to end the finals with 1618 with an impressive 202.25 average. Afiq settled for second with 1437, 181 pins adrift.   "I'm so happy for winning the title in my first international outing," said the 12-year-old Anderson Primary student, Soh Yong Ping, who won the Under-12 Boys title at the recent Singapore National Championships.

"I dedicate this win to my coaches at Agape and my parents for their support," added the pint-sized champion. Soh finished second in the Novice Bowling Challenge II for primary school Senior division and won two silver medals at this year's Inter-Primary School Championship.

Sean Gabriel Wong finished third with 1431 ahead of Tun Hakim of Perak, Malaysia and Max Peh of PBC Singapore completing the top 5 positions. Meanwhile, Strike Academy's Amanda Lee, who was trailing leader Ayra Nur Jehan of Malaysia in second by 20 pins before the eighth and final game, finished third with 1442 as Kuala Lumpur's Nur Dayana stormed home with 246 to snatch victory in the Girl's Under-12 division.

Amanda had led the fifth and sixth games after a keen tussle for the lead in the early stages with Rena Ng Yan Lin of PBC Singapore and Ellysha Syafeena of Sarawak. Nur Dayana amassed 1488 to win her first Junior title while Ayra settled for second with 1485.

Singapore's Megan Gwee, Ann Teng, Iliya Syamin Muhd Anzi of PBC Singapore, Jermaine Seah and Rachael Tan Soo Hui were in the finals but ended in 6th, 11th, 15th, 16th and 19th positions respectively.   All the winners took home a trophy, Storm bowling bag and bowling ball and MILO hampers. Mr Kamarulzaman of Storm Products was on hand to present prizes to the winners.
